Last week, Aquabotix visited with the Zephyr Foundation, located in WoodsHole, MA. The Zephyr Education Foundation is a non-profit Ocean Science and Technology education program. They host college, high school and middle school field trips in Woods Hole in which they go on a hands-on scientific cruise in Vineyard Sound replicating the cruises performed by the laboratories here. Students participate in deploying and recovering marine biological and oceanographic instrumentation. They also tour some the laboratories and docks in Woods Hole and discuss the research projects currently under investigation there.
While in Woods Hole, we took the opportunity to demonstrate our mini remote operated vehicle, the HydroView Pro. We brought the ROV out behind their office to drop the vehicle in Eel Pond. Because of the cold temperatures, the water was nice and clear allowing us to capture some nice video of the dock pilings. Aquabotix and the Zephyr Foundation have a shared passion for educating students and others about the underwater world. It was great to be down at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute meeting others who have experience with underwater ROVs and share a commitment to the ocean.
